Here is a glimpse into a “day in the life” of a first grade student.
We begin our days with our morning meeting where we build our classroom community and do our Character Counts lessons.
After the morning meeting, our class splits in half. One group goes with Ms. Melanee and one stay with Mrs. Rohaus. During this time, we work on our phonimic awareness/phonics as well as our math. The last week of December, we learned about r blends and when to use a soft g or c sound. In math, we practiced word problems and addition and subtraction within 20.
Around 11, we have lunch and then are off to specials.
In the afternoon, we work on reading and writing. Recently, we did several gingerbread themed activities including read three different gingerbread books with a comparison of themes and characters (the overall favorite was the pirate gingerbread men), had a gingerbread decode the room, as well as went on a gingerbread man hunt through the school.
There's always lots going on in first grade!

Due to road conditions Leeton School District, B&G Club, and the Leeton Early Childhood Center will be closed, tomorrow, Friday, January 10th.

Leeton elementary students participated in a service learning day before our students left for Christmas break. On this day, our students made cards and learned about service projects. Thanks to the tremendous support of our parents and community, we were able to pack 120 care packages. The care packages were taken to the Refuge on Ming homeless shelter in Warrensburg and the cards were delivered to the Veteran's home in Warrensburg. It was a great day sharing the experience of serving others with our students!!

Tonight's game at Harrisonville has been postponed to January 17th

I apologize for the late notice, but I wanted to give the sunshine every possible opportunity to improve road and parking lot conditions. Unfortunately, it has not done enough to ensure safe travel for tomorrow.
I remain concerned about the potential for refreeze on backroads and in our parking lot, as well as the snow-packed state highways. As a result, the Leeton R-X School District will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 9th.
Thank you for your understanding, and let’s keep our eyes on Friday for a hopeful return.

Due to extreme cold and road conditions Leeton School District, B&G Club, and the Leeton Early Childhood Center will be closed, tomorrow, January 8th. Stay safe and warm!

Tuesday's game has been canceled

Due to inclement weather and road conditions, Monday Club, B&G Club, and the Leeton Early Childhood Center will be closed, tomorrow, January 6th. Stay safe and warm!
